I gave up chocolate for Lent. In retrospect it was pretty stupid. I should’ve given up something harder, more important, like smoking or drinking, but I didn’t. I chose chocolate. Because it was easy. At least I thought it would be. Turns out, it hasn’t been easy at all. Before Lent I could take or leave chocolate … didn’t really care … always preferred vanilla anyway. But now … now I crave chocolate. Like a junkie craves a fix. I smell chocolate, or see a commercial on TV for chocolate. I sweat; get the shakes. It’s painful, living without chocolate.
